Sun and Amba Devi Temples at Ranakpur: The Land of Hindus

Rajasthan, the Royal State of India, is renowned for the great forts, deserts, magnificent palaces and luxurious hotels. Here is given about two ancient temples which you can visit by making a tour for Ranakpur sightseeing in Rajasthan. These are Sun and Amba Devi Temple, Chaturmukha.

Sun Temple

Sun Temple, the east-facing at Ranakpur, is exceptional by the iconography and unusual motifs on the wall. Anyone will be fascinated with the intricate carvings of the exterior part of the temple which is designed as the Surya, the God of Sun, is seated on a chariot drawing by horses. It is made of white limestone and it has been ornamented by following the classic style of Nagara. It consists of a sanctum which is crowned with Shikhara and preceding this sanctum, there is an octagonally shaped mandapa which has six verandas and pillars with exquisite carvings and toranas with sculptures.

Chaturmukha Jain Temple

Ranakpur is far away from the hustle and bustle of city life of Udaipur and Chaturmukha is located in the lush greenery of Aravalli Range of Ranakpur. This is with exquisite carvings on the marble. Which has majestically designed with shikhara, distinctive domes, turret from the slope of hilly areas. There are beautiful carvings which have been made out of a single marble rock designed with 108 headed snakes with numerous tails. This temple is designed with four faces as Chaturmukha. It is dedicated to TirthankaraRishabhanatha. Others are also situated in the complex area of this temple. These are Neminath and Parasnath. Sun and Amba Devi Temple are located in a little distance from these temples in the same compound. Throughout the year a huge number of pilgrims and devotees come to this. Amba Devi is the temple of the mother goddess.

You can reach here easily by bus or car on road. If you want to reach by train, it is well connected through the nearest railway station named as Falna and Rani to the main cities railway stations like Agra, Delhi, Jodhpur, Mumbai, Bikaner, Jaipur, Chennai etc. Whereas, if you want to reach by air transport, the nearest airport is Udaipur Airport which is communicated with domestic flights regularly to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, and Jaipur.
